Project Mughals and flying saucers
This post is a mysterious story like its title but this story is real but to understand it you have to understand sound, atmosphere, politics and psychology.
It all started in June 1947. After a hurricane, debris fell on MacBrazil's field, mysterious metal and plastic, strange colors and patterns. He just wanted to clear his field so that his sheep would not face the garbage, but his cleaning became the basis of a great conspiracy theory.
flying saucers
Many times balloons would fall to find out the weather, many times the wreckage of military experiments but this wreckage was the difference. A few days later, he showed it to his neighbors. "There are rumors of flying saucers these days," he said. Brussels took him to the local sheriff, who called the air force. The people of the Air Force expressed their ignorance and came to see him. The metal did not burn and was not marked with a knife. The air force took it away and said it was indeed an unknown material. There were rumors in the city. Local newspapers and radio headlines said, "The Air Force has confirmed that there is a truth behind the rumors of flying saucers."
The rumors gained popularity when senior military officers confiscated the newspapers the next day and tried to retract an old press release, declaring that it was the wreckage of a weather-detecting balloon that had fallen from the storm. ۔ What is suppressed not only spreads but also grows more mysterious. Who are you afraid of? What is being hidden? All this behind a seasonal balloon?
And at that time something was being tried to hide. What? The first thing to talk about is physics.
Sound is the vibration of air molecules. Air molecules move slowly in cold places and fast in hot places. Due to this, the wind speed is faster in hot places and slower in cold places. In Islamabad, it will be 772 miles per hour while on K2 it will be 672 miles per hour. Due to this, even the wind waves do not move in a straight line but turn towards a cold place. The sound on the ground will go up because the temperature in this place is lower. The higher we go, the lower the temperature. Up to 60,000 feet, that's fine, but then there's something else.
Ozone Layer Role
Ozone plays a key role in making life on Earth possible beyond the oceans. It is a molecule consisting of three atoms of oxygen and absorbs ultraviolet rays. The amount is too small. But it absorbs sunlight so well that the temperature at 1.5 million feet above the earth is zero degrees Celsius. That is, there is a sandwich in the air. Hot from the bottom, hot from the top and cold from the middle.
When the rising sound hits this hot layer, it makes a U-turn and goes down. Going down, it encounters another hot layer and another uterus. The result is that the sound gets stuck in a channel. This is called a sound channel. (It's not like whispers from your friend are stuck here. The voice loses its energy, but very loud voices stay in this channel for a long time and travel to the ware).
Morris Ewing
Morris Ewing discovered the channel in 1944. At first it seemed like an interesting idea, but they thought of taking advantage of it. If a sound is generated within this channel and is loud, then it will be too far to travel. It can be used for espionage.
Soviet Union conducting nuclear tests
Is the Soviet Union conducting nuclear tests? A nuclear explosion cloud is formed in this channel and such a loud noise can travel around the world. If the United States has a spy balloon in the channel that has a microphone, then it will be detected. Based on this science, Project Mughal was started.
This project faced many difficulties. The contrast of the sun's rays at this altitude heated them out of the channel. To keep it at a certain height, a new transparent material was used through which the sun's rays could pass. How to track them? At such a height, such a small object could not be tracked by radar. For this, a structure of 31 balloons was made which were in the shape of a box. It was glued and taped. Since scientists are not very interested in beauty, this tape was also colorful.
Floating in the air
Floating in the air, the structure caused many rumors of flying saucers. Especially at night, the reflection of the full moonlight often gave a strange reflection. Waving like a snake and listening to any other part of the world, these balloons, whenever they fell, became more debris than weather balloons.
Project Mughal's classification
Project Mughal's classification was double ultra-secret, meaning that few in the army itself knew about it. There was also a special air force team to collect the wreckage. One hundred and ten such balloons fell. (The Air Force team that the sheriff called had no idea about the project, and for them it was a mysterious object). Many balloons were easily found, but for many, the team was aware of the new rumors of flying saucers on the radio and reached there.
The Mughal project itself continued for many years. He heard the first Soviet nuclear test in August 1949. But due to better methods, it was closed in March 1950. His new method was to measure radioactive dust with the help of an airplane.
US Air Force
The US Air Force could have shown this, but it would have been better for people to believe the stories of these flying saucers and space creatures than to tell the Soviet Union about their spying methods in the Cold War. Fifty years later, it was declassified.
But by then, the place, Roosevelt, had taken on a new life of its own and had become a fertile ground for conspiracy theories. Behind these unidentified flying saucers was not the green people of Mars, but Morris Ewing, who was trying to spy in the Cold War.
